Admittedly, the concept is a bit out there, but the production model is always a bit toned down. I love the throw-back body style with a modern twist. I wouls so buy one.

I hate to say it, but given GM's current standing, I certainly don't see them bringing out a performance oriented RWD monte on the Chevy line that directly competes with the Camaro. All these thoughts of a monte coming back with some crazy fast, huge powerplant just isn't feasible for GM right now- they need a big selling car, and fuel efficiency is the major push, especially with the government behind them.

I also don't really see it coming back how it was either in it's last few generations, as GM already has the aveo, cobalt, malibu, camaro, impala, corvette- and the volt and cruze on the horizon (not sure which cars they will displace if any)- but that is a big lineup of cars to add some more. Only shot I see it having is coming back as a 2 door variant of either the impala or malibu, but I think their lineup is awfully full as is.

I'd like to see something traditional for motors, maybe 305 and 350 ci na (that would be about 5.0L and 5.7L respectively, maybe those can be the base and LS) - I'm a big fan of "there's no replacement for cubic displacement". Of course nothing wrong with throwing a turbo or sc on either of those afterward and coming up with a 450-500hp SS model.
The problem is they need to meet the CAFE economy requirements- and if 3 of their cars are offered with fuel thirsty V8's (especially if 2 are V8 only options)- thats going to make it tougher on them. The trend has been for awhile going towards smaller engines- and with turbocharging and direct injection, that is just going to become more and more the case. Not to mention if they build a 2 door RWD monte with 5.7 LS engine and 350-400 hp, what keeps it from being direct competition for the camaro? The whole idea with dropping all the extra brands was partially to eliminate overlap.

Honestly, I dont think anyone here was actually expecting GM to bring back the MC. We are just a bunch of dreamers here. Wishful thinking, yes. High expectations, no.

I just want to see a big 2 door monte carlo on the G8 chassis and make it very luxurious. It would have nothing to compete with besides Europeans and could be a hit, or not.

Great Thread Topic
I think it's a great `dream 4-Sure.
GM is producing the 2011 Caddy Coupe for those with
Big $'s. Maybe `if it's a success, they will consider
producting a new Monte Carlo @ a lower price
"2 dare `2`dream"
