Exclamation My Monte Carlo won't start. Can anyone help out a fellow Monte Carlo owner.

My Monte Carlo has been sitting on the drive way since January. I open her up and found that one of the rods that run along the steering column is broken. I've tried looking for the part at o'rileys, auto zone, and I even went to chevy to try and find the part but was unable to find it. Could I use a Cadillac, caprice, oldsmobile or Buick parts to fix it?...

I think we will need a little more info to help you. What year is your car? what motor? Does it click or do anything when you turn the key? What did you open up? what is the rod you refer to connected to? Try to post as much info about the problem and maybe someone will be able to help.

Thanks green, my Monte Carlo is an 86 luxury sport v8 350. The problem is in the steering compartment. The rods are connected to the switch and when the switch turns it makes one rod move up and the other down. It doesn't make a switch, rather the switch just turns and keeps the car on ON. The switch doesn't cluck or anything just turns because the rod is broken.

Check out above & see `if it helps.
Did you check with a GM Parts for a replacement of the broken rod ?

If they don't have them, then I would check the salvage/junk yards in your area to see if they have your model generation.
