Default grinding noise from the back/driver side

i was heading to work yesterday when my car started making a grinding hissing noise. it almost sounded like i was dragging a big stick or something... but wasnt. the faster i got, the faster the noise got. and when id slow down to a stop, it would too.

it didnt do it again since then, but its kinda got me worried. i was thinking bad wheel bearing. it might not even be the wheel.

anybody else ever hear this?

How long did the noise last? Has it been rainy?

when you get home or have access to it jack up the rearend and spin each tire see if you can duplicate, if that produces somthinng pull off the tire and spin the caliper and start looking closely to try to locate area of the sound!,

We have had rain, but the roads weren't wet. It only did it that one time on the way to work. Which is like less than 5 miles away from home. I havnt heard it since. What bothered me was my friend in the backseat said her car made that noise right before the engine blew up. Which, hers was probably coming from the front, not the back... And that was her fault. She didn't check the oil. Turned out there was no oil. Lol

I wouldn't stress. Coulda be a piece of crud caught between the rear pads and rotors. It may have dislodged never to be heard again. If the noise is gone and never come back then disregard the whole thing.

Sometime when you have a problem and ignore it, it does go away

A lot of times in the rain my brakes and rotors get a little surface rust, it makes an AWFUL sound, but it goes away after a couple of brakes.
