Default bouncing in steering colum

When I turn my steering wheel back and forth on my 06 Monte Carlo SS it makes a clunking sound like something it is hitting something in the steering column. When I am driving it feels like something is bouncing in the steering column and i can feel it when my foot is either on the gas or brake pedal. I had my tie rods and stuff on the front end checked and they said it was all tight. Any suggestions on what it could be?

Allow me to introduce you to the post 2000 GM intermediate steering shaft. Im not sure there is a "fix" for this but its nothing that will put you in any danger.

Here is a possible solution? not sure if this is exactly what you're dealing with?

This is part of it. It makes a grinding noise sometimes too. I will take this to my GM dealer and mention this. The guy at my friends garage wasn't sure so I think it would be safer to have them look at it. Thank you for the info. I need to get my girl fixed. Shes red with silver trim. Has a V8, sunroof and rides like a dream prior to this situation.
