GM Recall on 3800 3.8-liter V6 Cars
When I got my car in 2012, I didn't like the way the wires were run So I rerouted them. In July 2013 I took my Monte to GM for a computer issue, it was throwing Cadillac V8 codes. While it was there they took care of this as Well. Granted I live in Jersey but they are supposed to take care of recall items no matter when check car is brought in I believe!
I think I will take my SS into the nearest dealer and get their advice on this issue. I've gotta fella lined up to replace my oil pan gasket and intake manifold (if leaking) and check the head & valve cover gaskets as well. For this job I will not be taking my Monte to a dealership as they'll prolly charge up the a$$. A trusted fella with his own shop will see to my gasket replacements.. Anybody also hear of the cheap intake manifold gaskets made within the time frame of the recall years? ..Can anyone tell me what material the gasket is made of and why they fail? Thx!
FYI - I just got a 2003 Monte w/the 3800, joined the forum and came across this thread while browsing. I purchased the car from a Chevy dealer and from the wording in the recall, if a covered vehicle comes in to their possession, they have to inspect the car and make sure this has been done.
I went out to check and it has already been done.
Parts looks fairly new, but not really brand new, so probably done at some earlier time.

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS , i plan on using a newer engine that came from a 2005 Monte Carlo l67 supercharged . I'm doing a complete tear down and rebuild and machine worked. about .10 thousandths over bore. the (Tran) is also being built all new clutches and shift kits, 1200 Gm hp rated input shaft 1 inch chain and double roller cam timing sprocket set supporting 800hp. a 3750 stall converter stage 4 heads and cam ( blower/ turbo). the piston compression ratio i would like to use 8.0:1 Going turbo i could use that ratio very well say 67mm or 76mm . not sure about the supercharger might lose low end torque . any body out that have tried this ? I do know that with the set up i have planed for could put me in 600 @ the wheels.?? i would like to still compare the supercharger or a more efficient supercharger.
thanks..
