GM Recall on 3800 3.8-liter V6 Cars
#65
Go to your local GM dealer, take it to the service and tell them you'd like to check to see if your car was on the list of recalled Monte Carlo's. I took mine there back when I had it and to my surprise it hadn't been done. All they do is put a clamp on the spark plug wires. Takes them 5min at most. For an issue that is so serious doesn't take any time at all.

Seriously, does everyone know what has to happen to cause a fire for this recall??
1st, plug wire has to rub a hole in it
2nd, must have oil leak in that exact spot.
3rd, engine must be running, spark must jump from wire to the oil, then it must actually catch on fire.
You remove a very safe & completely covered channel that hold 3 spark plug wires in there respective place. to install a 2-wire and one 3 wire loom.
use your judgement. After I had several customers watch me change this in the service isle, they asked me to reinstall the oringal part because it looked much safer.
Get the facts before believing everything. After all it was a Government issued recall. lol

This is MY PERSONAL OPINION... I understand what people are saying, but if have seen some of the "shadetree" crap I have seen under the hood of some of these cars... IF the car is put into factory specs, it IS SAFE..
And just because some one somewhere had this issue and someone thought EVERY 3.8K on the planet would do this, they MADE GM put this out there.
Look at this and see if you would do this to your car. =-) Not going to happen to mine. 97-2003 only.....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
