GM Recall on 3800 3.8-liter V6 Cars
She is due for an oil change..... Ill take her Monte to the dealer and ask about it just to be safe.
yeah i saw that too . im going to get with the service writer at the local chevy dealer
about that . right now the car is in service department there . on 3 jan 2012 the intake manifold exploded possiblly due to a bad fuel pressure regulator. GM issued a bullitin on this problem and uncle sam issued a recall . so GM is fixing the car for free
despite the car being long out of warranty .

Someone answer this lol I have the same question, but also is this only for DEALER bought cars? I bought it from a private owner who wasnt the orig
I purchased a used 2001 Monte Carlo SS 3.8L October 2011. The Recall #2009047 notice was sent in September 2012 and repaired at the dealer September 18, 2012 for no charge.
On November 18, 2013, the engine compartment caught fire without warning, while parked after a short drive. The car was just in for routine maintenance the week before (ie: oil change, new brake pads).
It still looked great with the hood closed; except for a cracked windsheild, there was no damage to the interior, exterior, or tires. Everything in the engine compartment though was completely destroyed. I wonder if there is another issue that needs attention with a new recall.

Dahmit! Just read the thread about this recall! Holy sh-t.. I've gotta 2003 Monte SS, 3.8 liter like all the rest of the said engines.. I've got a slow engine oil leak coming from the oil pan gasket and I might think I've got leaking intake manifold gaskets too!
Hmm... will the dealers still have the fix parts available here in present day 2014?
Thanks.. grrr..
