Default Get rid of smoke smell

Does anyone know how to get rid of cigarette smoke smell in a car ? I tried freshly ground coffee and citrus odoban. Both seemed to work until it got warmer outside. Now the smell is back.

I'm going to replace the carpet and seats and possibly recover the headliner, which should help a bit. I guess it clings to any porous surface like carpet and vinyl.

Does anyone know how to fully get rid of cigarette smoke smell ? Do I just need more odoban through the ac system after the carpet and seats are out ?

When I bought a car that was a smoker's car, I shampoo'd everything, took the seats out, shampoo'd the carpets, cleaned the headliner and wiped down every single surface in the car the best that I could.

Then I let it sit with the coffee grinds in cups in the cupholders for a few days.

I didn't have any issues after that

I had a leather Jacket that had a smoke odor from a persons house fireplace. I tried to Air it out and it was difficult. I put it in a Garment bag and used a Charcoal absorber with it and some leather refresheners. 90 days and it is now good again.

My Mother in law smoked and it was tough to get out of the house.
The Car we did the same as was suggested, then we purchased a couple of Charcoal odor absorbers and left them in the Car and we left it open on nice days too. It took a few a days but it eventuality was to the point you could not tell it was smoked in.

You could take a wiff from a freshly cut onion before you get in the Monte...

or get a clothes pin...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone ! I'll give them a shot when I have more free time on my hands. I haven't been on much lately because I've been helping to gut and redo a family rental that was BADLY trashed.

I would clean the interior thoroughly and run an ozone machine.
