Ya don't cheap on the orbital - I use a Porter Cable and it's awesome! When my fiance buys his next winter beater, he is going to show me how to use his regular buffer. I know he uses a lot of Diamond cut and some 3M stuff with a wool bonnet.

im sure you could do it by hand ... but youre going to end up doing panels a day and then not being able to lift the phone to your ear for a week
you can find cheap orbital buffers - but believe me i know how one persons cheap with a paycheck is so not affordable without one
