finally got rid of the swirl marks ... there was a car under there

so after time and time again of attempting to compound the car properly and polish and wax sections that needed extra attention in efforts to bring the cars paint back from the dead ... which was a failing battle i was beginning to find out ( so many auto washes and ****ty towels had practically spiderwebbed the hell out of the paint ) ... i had been searching for a bit harsher of a compound/ polish to use and lucked out because the Oreily's near my house had a more than decent selection of car car stuff ... as well as the proper size cabin air filter which im going to do this weekend as well - thanks to all those fairly detailed threads here :D

well after spending two days - the first day washing/ claying and doing all surfaces parallel to the ground - you know the ones most people pay attention to ... the hood the deck lid and the roof ... i spent the second day doing the rest of the car ...

the whole process was ... wash - clay bar - Meguiars Swirl Remover 2.0 ( 2 - 3 coats for the really difficult stuff ) - Meguiars Ultimate compound ( really helps get the fine scratches edges down ) - Meguiars Professional Show Car Glaze ( which i now suggest to anyone ... it quite literally took the car from a dark gray to a mirror black ) - Meguiars NXT wax 2.0 ...

then a little blue metal polish for the tail pipes which i now noticed have pitted ( which is ok because theyre going to get chopped off and replaced shortly ) and some more rainX for the windows and some fresh tire shine ... ( use the gel stuff with the applicator man ... soooo much easier and a whole let less overspray on your freshly waxed ride )

went to a car show that night and got tons of compliments and the day after took some pictures after picking up a buddy and going to the gym ... the location was an abandoned go cart track in palatine illinois ... the suburban people of illinois will know where this is ...

oh and because the thought struck me - please dont think of this as a last minute ploy to get nominations for motm or anything ... maybe october :p;)

Wow, beautiful job detailing! Until recently, I didn't think Meguiar's was worth the cost. But after my wife got me some Meguiar's goodies for Christmas last year, I'm a convert. Great products.
