BEWARE OF COPS

RE: BEWARE OF COPS
Mac7504,
A guy that used to work for my father got a speeding ticket once. He too hired a lawyer to fight the ticket.
They got in to court, the officer stated his side of the case then it was this guy's lawyers turn.
The lawyer got up and announced, "Guilty your Honor."
So the guy had to pay the speeding fine, court costs and the lawyer fee.
I'd have been so pissed off someone (meaning me) would have been in jail that afternoon for assult.

Here I just use a handheld VHF scanner.. Local cops here have repeaters built into thier cars that bring the digital signals from thier talkgroups down to an analog signal for thier mobiles. Once the RF gets up ya know one is around.

RE: BEWARE OF COPS
hey Mac.... you want a good radar detector? try this one, put a monkey on teh hood of your car with a pair of binoculars and a whistle. seriously.... i don'tk now how many of you guys have ever heard of push button radar, but cops don't sit on the road with a radar beam across the road and watch the number as you cross it..... although a small portion of cops still do. most cops have push button radar. most cops can more or less lock at you and tell if you're speeding. when they see a car they think is speeidng, they push the button, and within a nano second it pops back how fast you're going. all the radar detector says is pull over. although the radar detector may save you one time, the main thing it will do is give you a false sense of security, causing you to speed more, thus get more tickets. then not only are you out a radar detector, but now you are out the ticket and insurance costs to. what you would be better off doing is studying traffic laws yourself. for example, in some staets, if there are not signs up in an area that say "RADAR ENFORCED", then you can get away with a cop using radar for you in that area... depends on the police entrapment laws in your area.
And RJ that's one messed up Lawyer....hahaha

Hey Gale,
I was just looking at a website for turbo chargers (ASP) and they show a EXTREME twin turbo kit for a 350Z that produces 854HP and 819-ft-lbs of Torque. Car weighs 3100-lbs or a 3.63:1 HP to Weight ratio. I figure this car could cruise 250 all day long. You being a cop... Do you think you could ever catch a guy in one of these cars... seriously. I mean your faster copter is 180-MPH... Radio is fast, but at 250.. this guy is moving a mile every 14-seconds. If you are at rest, he flies by you, by the time you fire up, he is a good mile ahead of you.
It's one of those shoot & giggle questions...

i don't think those detectors will work... they don't necessarily broadcast a beam when they use the push button. but if you do wnat to dump a few hundred bucks into one, make sure you get a "Stealth" radar detector... these cops have radar detector-detectors now, in states where they are illegal. i know this becasue Virginia is one of those states... when my dad was coming home one night, a car got on the interestate beside him, and a cop was to my dads left, so he was the meat in the sandwich. next thing my dad knows the cop is behind him with the lights going... so he pulls over. the cop says "you truckers better learn to obey the laws in Virginia, now I know you got a radar detector in this truck and I want you to hand it over RIGHT NOW" my dad kindly told him eh did not have one and that it must have been the car beside him that set off his detector (o yeah, my dad "set off" this guys radar detector detector.) so the cop searches my dads truck for 45 minutes, and sense there isn't a detector in the truck, he didn't find one. the cop was pissed, but o'well.

Wouldn't even think about chasing a guy going that fast, and yes, I saw a few chases over the years in whichcars actually outranhelicopters! But, I've yet to see a car that can travel faster than 186,000 miles per second, which is the speed of radio waves. I can't imagine what effect stop-sticks would have on a car traveling 250 mph, but I'm sure it wouldn't be pretty.

Yeah. According to the accompanying story (if you click the video, you get a news story about the chase and an interview with the car's passenger), the driver was killed by the officer on the hood while the passenger watched.
The passenger said all he wanted was a ride to the store. He didn't realize he was getting into a stolen car. The cop was going to pull him over for erratic driving, and the driver hit the gas. The news article says the officer who jumped onto the hood and fired his gun at the driver is on administrative leave.

I was shocked the monte was still moving honestly. I mean It got slammed by two police cars that im gonna guess are crown vics with pushbars. I thought for sure once the first cruiser hit the monte, that would have been the end of it all.I mean a crown vic is what, 3-4,000 pounds with all of its gear? Im kinda impressed the monte held together that well. Well done for the officers on the job. That guy was not gonna stop for anyone.
