Default Alternative Tire Sizes

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo LS and I have found it rather difficult to locate decent priced 225/60/16 tires. I went to a shop that sells used/new tires and one of the employees told me he has a set of 4 lightly used tires for $120 "out the door cost", but their size is 205/60/16, and he claimed they would work for my car. I myself am unsure that they would fit correctly on my car, but he said they could be "made to fit" my car. Is this something that would actually work, or should I just avoid it?

Yea they can work.. I wouldnt recommend it because they are (and will look) pretty skinny. I honestly dont think performance is of concern but lets say you need to stop in a real hurry.. Sometimes that extra couple feet can be the difference between avoiding an accident and totaling your car..

I will say those are "skinnier" than what it called for in the manual.

You shouldnt have a problem calling a junk yard and finding the correct size.. 120 isnt bad either if theyre in decent shape.. Just inspect them and make sure there is no dry rot.
