Odds are your tranny will go before your motor ever will. Heck you might be able to go through 2+ trannys in the life of a motor. lol

I don't want my transmission to go out either. It seems pretty happy still at 90k. 98% of the time I drive it like a big baby. Fingers crossed it pays off.

My 78 has 232,000 miles on it, original motor and trans, both were rebuilt sometime ago before I bought the car

That's so sad, that car is 22 yrs older than mine yet only has about 15k more miles on it....I drive way too much. That's all there is to it. But hey at least it's not a trailer queen.
