Default O2 SS 3.8 NA keeps cutting out. Changed alot of things

Ive been searching the forum and still not sure what to do.

My 02 SS keeps cutting off. Can be going 80 or I could just start her up. she cuts out.

I have had a tune up( didnt change the wires, they are fairly new) changed the fuel regulator, Crank position sensor, and the ignition control module. when I changed the ICM, it ran good for about 2 hours, then started sputtering, RPM's up and down, and went out. I changed the fuel pump about 6 months ago with a brand new one.

I did get some codes( dont have them with me) and when I researched them, they were mostly for ABS or TCM. A shop got them and they didnt really point towards a cause they said. I heard something about the Cat converter cuasing this or fuel filter.

$900 bucks later and its still cutting out. Im lost and frustrated and miss my baby( been driving a jeep lately)

Any ideas as to what to change next??

Thanks

Sounds like either a fueling issue (odd to say, since you've replaced most of the fuel system). Is the car running at operating temperature when you have the problem? When my MAF went bad, the car would run fine when it was cold, but as soon as it warmed up, it would sputter and even cut off.

Well, it will warm up a little( maybe started for 2 minutes) then cut out. Sometimes 2 hours then cut out. Yesterday when I put in the new ICM, it ran for 2 hours and then started to do it. My wife drove it to the subway station today( about 1.5 miles if that) and it cut out twice.

Should I go for the MAF or fuel filter?

I don't believe it's either of those. Is it still throwing codes? If it is take it to Auto Zone and have it scanned, and post the codes. There is a list of OBD II codes at the top of this sub-forum.
The fuel filter would not let it run at high speeds, but it would idle OK.
MAF maybe, but again, it shouldn't make it quit.
Maybe a bad electrical connection at the fuel pump?

go with the maf first. get a spray can of stp throttle body & air intake or gumout mass air flow sprayer. turn off the car and spray couple shots into the throttle body try to spray at the sensor. wait for few minutes and start up the car. take out for a drive and see if that help.

here's another way to check if the maf is bad....let me see if i remembered been awhile since i done this. anyway put the car in park while it's idleing, open the hood and unhook the maf sensor plug. if the car stay running then it's not the maf. if it die out then it's the maf sensor.

I would check the MAF too. My mom's Bonneville with the 3800 had the MAF go bad. When it went bad the car would sputter under acceleration, and died a few times at idle. But it did eventually throw a code for the MAF...

X100 on the MAF! Take it out and clean it. Also, you may want to check the ground at the pump. A Bad ground at the fuel pump can cause this problems as well.

A bad MAF does make the car quit. I know from experience. Mine went bad, I sped up and started cruising, car cut off, but it cranked right back up. New MAF, the problem disappeared.

OP, clean your MAF, and you might as well replace the fuel filter. They're only like $10.

Thanks for all the info guys!!! Im going to replace the MAF right now and the fuel fliter tomorrow. Got both at Autozone a few minutes ago. Now, where is the MAF? Inside the throttle body? and the fuel filter?

Ill post back with what I find.

Thanks again guys.
