2015 Monte Carlo??
I've said in previous years that they should just let the nameplate rest in peace unless they want to pay the car its proper respects. It seems like this group is the only one that wants to bring back a name plate... '57 Bel Air guys don't want Chevrolet to bring back the Bel Air... the old Impala guys werne't too crazy about the return of the Impala either....
A Camaro is a proper car... like a Corvette, it has always been a 2 door, RWD, performance car. Monte's have been kicked around a little... making us FWD cars in the 90s and 2000s did them enough disrespect!
Although, it wouldn't cost GM much money to rebadge a Holden as a Monte, put it on the Zeta platform, where many parts would be shared between the SS and the Monte or the Monte and the Camaro... switching factories over from to another wouldn't take much effort. It's plausible.

I honestly did not become a Monte enthusiast until I bought mine in 2008. Prior to that, I had a liking, fondness for the 4th gen SS models. But since becoming an enthusiast, I question if GM would do the car right and bring back certain "signatures" a Monte should have. Those questions in my mind are too big to push for it's return.
Duane, you mentioned Bel Air folks don't want GM to return it, I'm sure Chevelle guys are the same and old school Impala guys were not fond of the Impala return. The reason for some of this is loosing scope of things the true hard core enthusiasts expect to see. Such as I learned GTO fans were not happy with the re-badged Holden as it was the first GTO to NOT include factory hood scoops. No I'm not a hard core GTO guy, I never would have picked up on that. I would have enjoyed the re-badged Holden for what it was even if it had another name plate on it (coulda left it the Monaro for all I cared). But, the GTO guys, they did not embrace it, to them (with just cause), it was NOT a GTO.
My general opinion: If you bring back a name plate, bring it back with the enthusiasts in mind.
