2005 Monte SS SC -What is this sensor?
Here is a pic of the sensor.
It has a hose that comes from the throttle body that goes to the sensor in the pic.
It has the red plastic straw pulling the hose onto the sensor in question.
It is leaking and the oddball circular locking mechanism, or at least looks like a locking mechanism... might be broken.
It is apparently not holding the hose on tight.
The tighter the hose is on, the less problems with starting the car I have.
Also, I think it is the reason for my transmission randomly giving heavier shifts than normal.
Used to be random hard shifts, now is much less occurring and lighter than before but still not smooth when happens.
When I replace the cracked hose that was closer to TB, it helped a lot.
But, when I tightened the hose to the sensor it seemingly helped even more.
That hose going onto the sensor in the pic is loose and is why I have the red plastic holding it on tight.
It is tight on, but leaking still I believe. The hose is old and worn out and pushing it on hard still probably has blow by.
I am wondering how to remove the hose from this sensor. Probably a procedure to this, and I don't want to tug hard on it and break the sensor.
Any info is appreciated.

Here is the part on RockAuto:
Vapor Canister Purge Valve
Hope this link works. My first attempt at posting a link on this site.

I think you need this part, confirm it is correct for your car before you order though. You are probably getting a vacuum leak at the evap solenoid and that's why it runs better with your fix. If I remember correctly, you place your thumb on the ridge on the top and finger under and squeeze, which spreads the clip and then pull it off. https://www.findlayautoparts.com/oem...-tube-24506665
On a 2001 SS, the evap solenoid is on the radiator side and is connected to the throttle body by this part, which is all plastic. For those who have the 3.8, I recommend you replace this while you can get it. The rubber plug at the throttle body gets hard and causes a vacuum leak. Its not cheap though.

I really appreciate the info.
The vaccuum hose line I did not remember a split off, will have to pop the hood and check.
Mind as well get both items while I am at it.
Is the 24506671 definitely for a 2005 supercharged?
The connector to the sensor looks right.
The connector/ connectors coming from the TB side looks wrong, but I could be the one that is wrong.

The 671 part# is for the normally aspirated 3800 with the evap solenoid valve on the front side of the engine next to the dogbone mount, at least for the 2000-2002 year models. Sorry for the confusion.

I looked at the part on the website ending in 665, that is what I remembered it looking like.
I will check before ordering, but it does look right to me.
It does have a note on the parts website about a fuel line disconnect tool, but then when I click it... it is a long list of them and I have no idea which to get.
I did type in 2005 Monte Carlo SS fuel line disconnect tool, but it didn't seem to shrink the list.
Anyone have the part number for the tool?
Also, is there some sort of procedure besides just unbolting the sensor and pulling the hose off the TB, then attach new line to new sensor and install in reverse order?
