Default 2003 monte ss stereo help!!!

Ok, this is the third monte ss ive owned. the first 2 were an 87 ss and an 84 cl, converted to an ss. now i have a 2003 monte ss. everything is stock. I knew the 84 and 87 like the back of my hand. this monte is from another world.....

im trying to keep things simple for now, like swapping out the speakers. my car has a factory amp. will it effect the new after market speakers?

I am also reading on here that when it comes time to swapping out the factory stereo for an after market, i will run into tons of electrical problems. how true is this? thanks!

I had problems when installing a Kenwood kvt-617dvd flip out that had a separate brain unit In my 2003 Monte Carlo SS and that brain caused the factory amp to always be on making my battery always die even when pared and turned off. I'm sure that could have been disabled somehow but now I have a Sony XAV601bt double din with no brain unit and have never had any problems. Also I have a wire harness with charm that cost around $80, cannot get the cheap harnesses under $20. My guess it all depends on the radio. Anyways just sharing my own experience

i want to install a dvd/cd player so I think just disconnecting the amp will be sufficent because the radio will have enough watts for the speakers. but i read that the dimmer switch and door chimes get effected as well once you disconnect the radio.

i just installed a pair of 6x9s and used the existing wiring harness. i dont know what is positive or negative from the amp to the speakers. the passenger side is red and tan. the drivers side is blue and tan. i assumed the tan is the negative. am i right?
