Default 2002 SS trunk light

how in the heck is the trunk light activated? i have looked all over read my owners manual and can't find a thing

Theres a lil rubber bumper thing next to the latch i think, havnt looked at mine in forever so not really sure, but you prob do have a blown bulb if its not working

On the metal part where it latches, there is a rubber piece, when you press that, the light shuts off.

Part # 22 is the SWITCH. Rear Compartment Lamp. Rear Compartment Lid Release or Ajar

What should I do if my message center says trunk open randomly, when its always closed? Someone help its driving me nuts.

I would check the wiring going to the switch to see if it's damaged and possibly shorting out to the chassis. This could cause your problem. Or it's possible the switch itself can be faulty or loose. Also check the latch. If the latch is loose, and the lid is bouncing around while you're driving, you're gonna get that message also.

Check the obvious stuff first. It's a simple electrical circuit. When the lid opens, the switch completes an electric circuit that turns on your trunk light and sends a message that your trunk lid is open.
