03 monte ss to 02 monte moon roof conversion
OK, I have a wrecked 03 ss which ive been swapping to an regular 02 monte. things are wrapping up but by 03 ss has a moon roof and my 02 has none. my question is, what type of trouble would I run into if I decide to make the 02 a factory moon roof?

I'm not sure anyone has done this task on one of these cars. I've seen people do it on other cars (heck saw an amazing body job of a guy swapping a modern sunroof that was like 3 pieces of glass and when open almost the entire roof was open, he put that on an 80's G-body). I have also seen stuff where people swapped T-Top roof panels on 80's F-body cars. My guess would be that you would have to do the following:
- Remove the headlines from both vehicles. Take care disconnecting the wiring harness in the roof.
- For safety, remove the sun roof assembly from the one car.
- Find the factory weld points for the actual roof metal, drill out the welds.
- Swap the roof panel (whole piece) to the non-sunroof car. Re-weld it in.
- Paint the new roof to match it's new car.
- Re-install the sun roof assembly.
- Re-install the sunroof headliner (using the wiring harness that is glued on it).
If you try simply cutting a hole in the roof instead of swapping the actual metal roof, you will probably have a ton of problems getting a factory roof piece installed and everything lining up. Another option, get an aftermarket sun roof kit.
