I have read both ways about the CA box. Some say it does not matter, some say it does. I tryed it both ways. Personaly I like it with out the box. I seem to get better upper end boost. Since my car is set up for highway high speeds and for short burst passing. At the low end I dont realy need the boost because I keep my rpms up high and drag the brakes during turns. Of course on closed tracks only. As for water. If you kept the filter well oiled, would it not deflect the water? This is my delema. Does it in fact deflect enough of the water. Now I live in Olympia WA. This will be my first rainy season coming up. So any thoughts?

By the by. Great video

On the highway, since the air is circulating pretty well, the intake temperatures aren't that much higher, so you are actually finally getting colder air, that's why it feels like you have more power.

Running without the heat shield will keep your IATs really high. This can cause your car to run lean, or pull timing. Not that great for the engine or power.

You shouldn't worry about the filter getting too wet. Unless that thing is sitting in a puddle, sucking up air, you aren't going to ruin your engine.

Thanks to both of you. I feel when I run short track road courses I may want to employ the Cold air box. I will try to test it out soon, before monsoon season!

Just get a basic gauge that will monitor your IAT temps. I use my ScanGauge2 and you will see.

Roughly every 5 degrees above ambient and your car will pull timing.
