Bump. I'm probably going to have to replace my CVs soon too. You seem knowledgeable and I am a novice. How long did it take you?

Also-aftermarket vs OEM. I've read many horror stories of aftermarket axles failing soon after install, but not entirely sure if that was someone who did a bad job installing, a one-off situation, or a bad overall part

I am at step #18 and I have two questions.

How exactly did you get the leverage to pry it off utilizing the transmission housing? I have a small pry bar, and a crow-bar and neither has a fulcrum point on the trans housing to pry off of...

and where would you place the hammer strike to give it the most effective love tap?

Thanks!

Just curious, when you pulled the old axle, did the circlip come out with it? If it didn't come out withe the old axle, are you trying to put the new axle in with a new circlip already on it?

Both my axles came out with the circlip on them and the new axles went in with new clips too. If it doesn't come out with the axle do some fishing around in there. It is possible that your old able never had one to begin with. When I replaced my thermometer I found that there wasn't an old one to remove. Never underestimate the previous owner
