Thanks Tad!! I am so glad you posted your pic. Beyond where they were, I was going to be unable to answer appropriately!

Oh I completely understand trying to clarify. I had to go online and try to find a pic because I don't have a 5.3 and didn't have a pic of my own I try to help as much as I can. I am learning as I go. LOL

So if I understand it should maybe be a fairly easy job, I mean the car runs fine I just smell burning oil son. Should I take out the spark plugs and check those as well? But did I answer correctly about he bolts? I never noticed that it looks that seperate since mine isn't painted

I would start with the valve cover gaskets. The spark plugs shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't bother taking them out just yet.

If the rear is not smoking or leaking leave it alone. the rear is much harder to get to. Yes the smaller red bolts on the gold coil rack hold the coil rack in place the larger red bolts on the black valve cover hold the cover in place

Connection to the coil is all snap together easy to connect and disconnect.

before you put the new gasket on be sure your valve cover is clean where the gasket is to go. any dirt will cause your new gasket to leak

Yeah so far I only notice smoke from the front plugs, not back...and like I said it's not even all the time but I'll deff keep a look out. Thanks everyone . Incase I have to get to the back, does that require me to rock the engine a little or..? How could I even tell the back was leaking? I'm guessing just stick my hand back there while its cool and feel for oil?

Rocking the engine on a LS4 does not buy you that much more room.

I was able to get to my rear bank with moderate difficulty and some scraped knuckles.

Using a mirror you should be able to check if your rear bank is leaking or not

More than likely oil is running onto your front manifold and that's why it is looking like it is coming from your plugs.
