6th Gen ('00-'05): UIM Replacement #2

UIM Replacement #2
I'm finally getting around to resurrecting the Monte from a long winter's nap and getting her ready for shows and meets again. For once, one of my painting endeavors has turned out darn near perfect and not runny or fingered up
I have to replace the UIM again (did it for the first time about 5 years and 50k miles ago) because of coolant leakage due to melted plastic/gasket around the EGR. No big deal though...$80 at Summit for the Dorman replacement and $12 in high temp paint and clear coat at AutoZone. I couldn't stand the flat dirt-attracting black finish of the plastic, so I did this. I might never put my engine cover back on now haha
I also have a proper aluminum custom-made CAI in the works, along with a ceramic coated PLOG and ploished aluminum valve covers. More to come on that in the coming weeks. Thanks for checking this out, guys!

Looks great! Have you ever thought about swapping to an aluminum UIM from an L26? I did that swap on my Monte and it turned out great (and confuses people at car shows lol).
He has an L36, non-supercharged 3800.

Yeah I have thought about that, but I'm going to be doing a top swap and making it supercharged in the future so I figured I'd just do the standard "cheap fix" for right now. My last replacement intake was back in 2010 so I'm confident this one will last me the amount of time I need to save up for a supercharger swap. Plus, I actually kinda like the plastic engine covers that came on our Montes, as long as it's painted to my liking, not that ugly gray crap from the factory. Mine is soon to be gloss black just like the intake with the lettering and nomenclature silver.
