Type of transmission Fluid??

What about Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc transmission fluid?
That's what I've used in my older GM vehicles. It says it can get used where Dex VI is called for, so I assume it is a Dex VI fluid.
Is it bad to mix Dex VI with Dex III? As I guess Dex III is in my 02 Monte.
Though, I had read some recommend sticking with Dex III if that is what came with it as the tranmission was designed for Dex III.

Can the filter be driven in too far? That new filter didn't want to go in by hand. So, I had to tap it in, but wasn't sure if it could be tapped in too far?
I'm used to the older GM transmissions that just have a rubber seal that can easily be replaced by hand, and the filter gets removed/installed by hand.

ithe only thing i did to help the life of my trans besides the intervals were adding a trans cooler to it to help it. i know i live in fl but when i was in va i put it on because all of the hills and evey thing. also i was told by a g, tech at the dealer to put it on to help it out for the long gevity of it. i didnt really notice the diference till i seen it took a little longer to warm up to operating temps. it is not a biggy as long as it stays cool

I replaced that seal, but should have left it alone. As I used a seal puller and gouged the aluminum shaft. But I got the new seal pressed in and the filter installed. Though, I had to tap the filter to get it to seat. But I hope you can't press the filter in too far.
I've since read of people saying to avoid replacing that seal as you could gouge the shaft as I did. But didn't really read any comments on what could happen with a gouged shaft if the new seal was pressed in and the filter was able to be pressed in.
