RE: twin turbo an 85 ss 355
yea 489 for both no i dont have it yet, ill prolly just go with the 1.5's, i dont have the money for aftermarket heads and i know that i wont for a long time, here is what i have and getting soon, 750 cfm double pumper edelbrock, high rise single plane holley intake, headers (not sure what they are but they have really big primarys) and what im getting - roller rockers, cam, 6 speed , what would be the best combo with the 750 and single plane, i know thats high revs and less bottom end but thats what i have to work with, im sure i could make up the bottom end with the 6 speed, honestly its mostly street use so i know i should go with less carb and dual plane intake but like i said, thats what i have so i gotta work with it, i do plan on taking it to the strip next summer so top end may not be that bad

aftermarket head would be nice but it's not everybody that has the cash and with the right set up you can make desent power with them
as for the cam you can go with a extreme energy by comp cams 1800-6000 rpm 230/236 @.050 274/286 adv. duration 488/491 lift
and use the 1.5 rollers with that it should be good
i would not worry about the bottom end to much if you put in that 6 spd 5th and 6th are over drives in them so put a set of 4.11:1 in the rear end that will make her haul @ss

4.11 's is what i wanted to hear! lol, and my choice in cams honestly was between a voodoo and an extreme energy so thats fine with me, alot of people have told me theyve had bad luck with comp cams yet i see more and more people using them so i dont think they know whats goin on, anyway, tat set up would probly be good and with 4.11's it should do pretty well in bottom end, thanks for the help guys, any more comments or suggestions are still welcome!

been thinkin bout your build up some more... 1 thing i didn't mention was the rocker studs in your heads. you need to know if they are pressed in or screwed in. if you go with the lift of the cam anywhere near .475 they need to be screwed in. if you wind the motor pretty hard,.. which anyone building it would eventually the pressed in studs are gonna come out causing a big mess! i like 408's cam choice too. that would work well.

well in that case im hopin they are screwed in but once again knowing my luck they arent, i cant go out and tell right now because its in the shop getting front end work, the guy workin on it said "i dont know how you drove that thing like it was" i guess the upper control arm bushings werent even there, anyway, it ought to ride good when it gets done, new upper control arm bushings, upper ball joints , shocks, and then the rear end seal should stop that from leaking so it should actually be safe to drive, lol, now after x-mas ill be able to start getting some engine parts to build it up, im getting that intake on friday and hopefully that carb for x-mas, if i dont get the carb then i will be getting a 600 or maybe a 670 street avenger, then the build can start! the tranny i probly wont get till spring or maybe summer, the sooner the better but i dont know, like i said i hope to be able to take it to the track this summer during friday fun nights, 15 bucks to run your car all night and they sell vp race gas too if for some reason i need it, or want it, lol
