Transmission Whine?

Transmission Whine?
When i floor it in the MC and its still in the 1st gear range, I get a whiiiinnnnneeeeee from what I think is the transmission until it shifts into second gear. Theres still a small whirring during second but not really noticeable at all. I have full ATF and due to my recent replacement of the AC compressor and water pump am sure its not the engine, or at least its not the engine serpentine system. Is my diagnosis correct in that its the transmission, probably first gear? Is there anything I can do about it?
My car has 165k on it.. :-\

Are you sure its not the power steering pump? Check your power steering fluid level.
Also, double check that your transmission is not over full on fluid. It will whine like crazy if its over full.
When is the last time you changed your ATF and FILTER? Sometimes a clogged tranny filter will also cause whine.

Almost positive its not the PS, Ive heard that sound many times before on my Jeep and its not the same type of noice, plus its not affected by steering one way or the other. I fooled around with it when I had to remove it to get to my water pump and it seemed solid and had no play.
I had no idea there was a transmission filter. And all Ive ever done is add fluid to the reservoir.. maybe there is too much. Any recommendation on how to drain? Should I completely drain it and refil it to the proper level?
Thanks
