Hey guys,

My 1998 Z34 is due for a transmission. 4th geat has been gone for 1 year and a half now. It is finally warm out so i can work on the car and ride the motorcycle to work. Question is, will a 99 Grand Prix Transmission work. I can get one from the local yard that has 121,000 miles on it for $350. I was going to install the transco shift kit also. Will that tranny work in my 98? Or should I buy the one from a 98 Monte with 149,000 miles? The 98 is $50 cheaper.

what size engine do u have in your monte? its FWD right?

 

3.8 is in my Monte as well as the 99 grand prix.

 

The tranny from the Grand Prix will work as long as the Grand Prix has the non-sc 3800 in it. I'd hang onto your Z34's CV's though because I can't remember if those are the same.

Edit: stevemonte212, ALL Monte's are FWD from 1995-2007.

No problem. I overlooked your question about the shift kit too. I'm not sure about how much theshift kit that you found costs, but this shift kit: ZZ Performance will work and costs $40 from ZZP.
