Top Swap write up needed

while others say that the l36 pcm will relearn itself after about 300-400 miles with the swap.
I'd still like to know your opinion on the subject, a $600 dyno tune vs. a $225 box tune, would the performance difference really justify the price?
Even at that- have you considered getting your own tuner? Powertuners have been going used for $250 and less for awhile now- and the top swap 'tune' isn't that hard since you're just combining stock tables from an L67 with some of your stock tables (ie transmission settings).

I was thinking of going with hptuner and it seems like a lot to learn but if I get a canned tune and then start to tweek with a hp tuner wouldn't hat be the easier way to at least ge close then start ... Is this the way to go ..which way did you end up going

As mentioned, a tuned PCM is required. IDK if it's worth THAT much more to get it dyno tuned... But I'll get mine dynoed one of these days. My honest opinion: Invest in a scan gauge, get a PCM from a vendor and see where your KR is. Otherwise you're gonna end up needing to have the car towed to get it dyno tuned anyway.
