It shouldn't be too hard to change if you have a little bit of mechanical experience.

thanks. i ordered the chilton's book for the monte.

im debating whether to flush it or not, since the car did go through a new radiator replacement, im thinking it could do without it.

i would recommend a haynes manual. The Chilton is usually written more for mechanics.

To remove the belt, you just have to turn the tensioner pulley and that will release some of the slack for your to slide the belt off.

Make sure the routing sticker is found on the car so you know how to put the new one back on.

update on my issue.

I FINALLY got the ac delco water pump and replaced it. There seems to be some leakage but im still checking it out, since i spilled some fluid while filling up they system.

I noticed the car took 2 jugs of prestone dex cool to fill up, is that normal?
I also added water wetter so hopefully everything work out!

thanks for the help guys.

FYI the belt was a B*** to put back on, couldnt find the belt tensioner.

Another Update.

So its been about a good 2 weeks and ive had no over heating problems
my fluid level is dropping very slightly, so i think there is still a leak around either the thermostat housing or the pump, but for now im satisfied.

Today, i noticed a weird noise coming from the engine. kind of like a whirling noise. as i increase speed, it gets more high pitched and is present at all speeds and in every gear including neutral and reverse.

any idea what this might be?? could the belt me making this noise?

its definitely coming from the pulley side of the engine.
