Fill the radiator up, make sure the overflow is where it should be.

Bleed your system completely.

If you drove the car with it overheating, you could have warped something bad, so let's hope that didn't happen.

 

ARG, CHIBI! u forgot to knock on wood! lol, . . . . just got a call from the shop. my radiator is leaking and he also "believes" some of that gunky crap got in my intake manifold. so they want to swap both parts out. along with a thorough power chain flush. boy this is gonna be a long week. thanks for all you guys help with this matter. i seriously cant put in words how much its appreciated! wish me luck as i plan on visitin my backyard mechanic who will do the work. ill give u an update on his opinion and a second update on his post work.

 

I am having an overheating issue with my MC as well. But, the thing is, I smell something burning by the serpentine belt (like burning oil) which I even tried to see if the coolant will flow inside the radiator with the cap off. Well, that was a bust!!! So imma just let the mechanic hit my pockets because I can't keep going through this.

Im going to buy a new radiator cap tomorrow to see if that is the issue!!!

 

Could be the water pump, belt driven.

 

@ ChibiBlackSheep: I sure hope its something simple. I just dropped it off at the shop and the guy will let me know what was wrong with it. Check this out, he wil even throw in a scan code search to see what's faulty in my car. You can't beat that one....which is free

 

okay I have a question. I do body work and a little bit of engine work. but I replaced my t-stat already and the recovery tank also. I believe there are to hose on the recovery tank one in the front and one in the back. but I cant find the other hose. the system has to be pressurize for to work right. I cant find the hose in the back or were it might be located on the engine. it is a 01 monte carlo 3.4 block. I looked on the net but I seem to come up empty handed for the recovery tank. please help

 

The recover/overflow tank has 1 thin hose that connects to the radiator. There is an outlet on the tank to exhaust excessive pressure or in a worst case, release coolant if the system is that over filled or pressurized.
