Default Need opinions on my monte carlo ss

Well I'm new to this thread and I have some questions and would like to get yall's opinions. Well basically I have a 2000 monte carlo ss I love it. Recently I've been learning how to do stuff on it myself and I like the pride in doing It. Well I've been wanting to upgrade it and fix it up. At the moment I've done a bit to it the only problems with the car is its got 223,000 miles Also it has some cosmetic damage. Well I was thinking about and engine swap and putting a new air intake and exhaust sytem on it. For performance and because its rusted, but I'm not sure if I should work on upgrading this one and if it would be easier or maybe just doing some small things then getting a newer monte carlo. Any ideas or opinions would be great thanks.

Cars can easily become a money pit. If you love the Monte and want more performance, perhaps familiarize yourself with the platform, and try to find a nice supercharged 04/05 SS.

The body stuff can get expensive, the engine stuff is pretty cheap on these cars.

Well at the moment I'm not looking at doing anything extravagant. I just want a nice looking and pretty fast car. like at the moment I was looking at a new cat convertor, exhaust system, and a cold air intake. Then little things here and there to the car. What would be good upgrades for a 2000 monte carlo ss and what would maybe a decent cheap engine and transmission swap?

Here is a link to a thread that will answer a lot of your upgrade questions

https://montecarloforum.com/forum/en...-bumpin-24896/

As far as the body on your car goes, if you love the car and want to keep it, a body and paint job is cheaper than a new car payment when you look at monthly payments over a period of years, just make sure you get a good body and paint job that will last.

A zzp downpipe will help remove the restrictive parts of your exhaust, mufflers won't really give you power but will change the sound, and a cold air intake is a good thing but keep in mind the ones in the engine bay are generally only sucking in hot air, so get one with a box around the filter that directs the cold air in.

Engine top swap is a very possible performance mod you can do, basically you get a supercharger and heads, pcm and other stuff from a supercharged donor car and swap it in to your car, this also gives you a chance to freshen everything up while you have it apart. These motors are designed to last for very high mileage if you maintain them so I wouldn't be afraid to go that route, I'm considering it with mine and I have 300 000 on my motor
