Basically the block is the same. Some changes were made such as the rods, but mostly identical.

I would think black RTV is fine.

oh ok cus when i removed the oil pan, i noticed it says Series II on the block, just under the heads.

so these S3 motors share the same S2 block?
From what I know the RTV you want to use should work fine.

As for the block, the S2 and S3 are 100% the same block. To be honest their is barely much difference in a S2 vs S3. The aluminum UIM and drive by wire tb are the most noticable, some years had an aluminum oil pan..... 2005+ had forged connecting rods for improved durability vs the previous cast rods. OH and I believe the returnless fuel system.

Outside of that, the engines are interchangable (as your about to finish finding out). You will be the L26 master in a L36 world Frank!!

I try to match the RTV to what i'm using it on, and it always seems to work. Black for oil, red for coolant.

I was just curious haha and I know

Here's my new oil cap decal along with my UIM ones
Not sure if I should keep the "3800" though. Maybe I should've went with diff. Fonts let know what y'all think
