I joined on here a couple months ago when I bought my 06 Monte Carlo, long story short starter went out then the car got wrecked so I havnt touched it since then, the other day I decided I’d fix it, only problem is the wiring is shorted out and burning up the starter, does anyone know how I could wire it directly up to the battery and run a push button inside the car. Or has anyone else done it on a newer car like this?
Update, put a new starter on, and I’m going to wire a button inside of the car, I pulled the starter relay because the short in the signal wire was killing the battery constantly, also fixed the messed up wiring, now everything electrical that wasn’t working before is working now, the starter still isn’t turning over the engine, it’s a good starter, but I think I might need to shim it, will update if the shimming works, and here’s a new picture of the car, on its 3rd life now
