Make sure you just did not drop it on the exhaust manifold just outside of the plug hole. It would be a little strange to drop a plug piece into the cylinder. I had ALL of a plug come out once except for the threads on my 3100 Grand Am!! Took 2 days to get the thread piece out with an "Easy Out".

Can you be more specific about what the broken piece is? Any pics of what you do have?

Now, generically speaking, if you REALLY did drop a piece into the cylinder, you have two options:
1 - If it's a metallic piece, see if you can use a telescoping magnet and fish that in there and HOPE it grabs the piece and comes out.
2 - Pull the heads off (I would say just one head, but if you are that far into it, do them both, put all new gaskets in and never have to worry about it again).

I hope it's NOT something in the cylinder.

Here's pics from my worst spark plug moment, with a 3100 of all things... Here's what came out (this was the back cylinder closest to the alternator, I consider the worst one to reach):

Here's what the rest looked like (and my dad STILL has that thing on his easy out to this day)!:

A magnet or one of those claw grabber tools were my first thoughts. I think we need a little more info here tho. What part of the plug is in there? Can you see it in there?

I would get a borescope and look in the cylinder through the plug hole. (i think you can rent them). then you could see the piece in there and fish it out.

Im guessing he broke the porcelan on the plug and thats what fell into the cylinder.

If thats the case your gonna have to take the motor apart..to get it out!
