Default Cooling Fan broke

So I saw the other day that the check engine light went on and i didnt think much of it because it's gone on and off before and it gave codes of bad O2 Sensors.

But on my way home from school i was stuck in traffic and a red light goes on telling me my car is overheating. And indeed it was lucky for me we were moving and within seconds the engine started to cool do to movement.

So i go in and get code read and it says my cooling fan was broken. We popped the hood and let the car heat up and indeed it was not turning on.

So does anyone have any ideas on what it could be or what to look for, for a possible home fix before i take it to the Chevy Dealership and spend all my Moneys.

If fuses / relays check out, unplug the connector at the fan motor and use a multimeter to check for voltage. The engine will have to be hot enough to turn on the fan of course, so be careful. Maybe you can prep for the test while engine is cold. I think there is a small aluminum cover over the fan motor that might be in the way.

Same thing happened to me, it was the underhood relay. I hope that's all yours is.

most times it's not the fan itself but a fuse or relay like others have said

Hi `Jon,
Great 2 C U online, but not great to read that you have a problem...I think the problem was caused by having three Jr's in your back seat & it overheated your ENGINE and
the fan just gave `out WoW, you are greedy ~>3

The above member's gave some great advice & I hope that you can fix it yourself & avoid the high cost of taking it to a dealer or shop...Below is more information on your problem.
Check it out & I hope it helps...Let us know how U `do...
Good Luck from `Space
