Well then.... way to make the rest of us feel insignificant... ill just go sit on the 4 40,440 pounds of thrust engines attatched to my c-17's. Haha. And back to the trans I replaced my pressure control solenoid and she runs fine. But I think it already had a rebuild. They just didn't chnage the pcs when they did it. Just gonna say I would love to strap mysylf to that rocket you call a car.... 1800 hp...

First, I prefer NOT to have shops flush the trans fluid. Flushing it DOES NOT change the filter OR the "crud" sitting in the pan. Personally, I feel the filter is a critical piece to properly maintaining the trans. Most people complain of trans failures after a flush.
Second, your change intervals for pan drop/fluid/filter change varies based on location/climate/type of driving. For me, 100,000 is the norm. Has not failed me. None of my cars have had trans problems, heck, last car, '94 Grand Am, pan drop fluid/filter changed it twice in my owner ship, sold it with 215,000 miles on it, ran great!!!
Not saying everything GM recommends is always the best, but that interval has served me well.
Third, it is true in a pan drop, you don't get what's in the torque converter. It's not that significant in the grand scheme of things, I personally would not worry about it.
When you MISS a change interval, then it varies if the change is more harm then good. If you are having problems, change it, see if there is anything in the pan (like metal shavings) and see if the change of fluid/filter help.
BTW - my '04 Monte SS takes 7.4 quarts for a pan drop/fluid/filter change. Look in your owner's manual. It will have a fill spec for a full rebuild and a simple pan drop/fluid/filter change. I pan dropped it this past spring. Not due to mileage, due to age ('04 Monte, original fluid/filter and has 70,000 miles on it, has not been driven in a single winter since I bought her in '08).

To further confirm an answer to your question, yes, you can use Valvoline Dexron VI Full Synthetic. In fact, that's all I've ever used in my 06. And as mentioned, it's backwards compatible.
7.5 quarts is what it will take for a pan drop and filter change. I've done it many times on my Monte.
