Trans Fluid: Valvoline DEX/MERC III
#2
If I was you I would switch to Dexron VI. It's far superior to the old Dextron III, it last longer, it's semi-synthetic, or can be purchased a s a full synthetic. Its lower viscosity, therefore will improve fuel efficiency.
Valvoline makes a full synthetic Dextron VI product, I use it in my Monte.
Dextron VI is full compatible with Dextron III.
Also, note that NO Dextron III product is licensed by GM any longer, therefore you have no way of knowing the product actually meets even the old Dextron III spec, per GM's old license. For all you know the oil company has left out an additive or altered the formula from the original Dextron III formula. GM recommends Dextron VI for not only newer cars, but as a replacement to Dextron III.
Hope this helps a bit.
