jax jim is right it happens to alot of chevy's after 96put new switch in it

My bad. Not sure what the deal is on anything after 1999. Could be a similar issue with the security system, but I don't have any expertise in the 6th gen model.

I'm pretty sure my 01 does, since the ignition cylinder has a transponder that plugs into the harness right on the side of it.

^ Pretty sure thats just for the resistor which is past of the Passlock System.

Went to get an extra key incase i lose my keys again today, had to go to the stealership to get one with the chip coded to my cylinder.
