Look into saving up for the wiz-aired kit. VERY very good kit.

zzperformance.com

There is the direct link, you'd want the standard option with the K&N intake cone. (+$44)

paintballer i have something similar to what you have done, it helps until your engine warms up and then everything is virtually the same as if you had the normal air box

this is not a true statement, you took your CAI off, and replaced it with a HAI...

you effectively raised the internal temps of your engine, which is not a good thing...IMO

you car may sound better, and may even have better throttle response, this is because the engine does not have to work as hard to get the air in, which normally would be a good thing, but now your pulling in air that is substantially hotter...increased heat can lead to KR, in stock form you have no way of telling if you have any KR, this is not a good thing...

KR can cause you to chip a piston, or worst case senerio blow the connecting rod and push your piston sideways in the cylinder...this would be bad...

trewyn15, i urge you to head the advice of myself, and the other members who posted in this thread...we are looking out for your own good (and your Monte's)

Also Chibi,

In the link you posted with the Wizaired kit. this was at the bottom

*Does not work in Bonneville or Impala/Monte's where the battery is on the driver's side.

Now is this true, my monte's optima battery is on the right side.
I didn't know it, they changed positions.

It shouldn't cost a couple of thousand for a top swap, I think ZZP sells an SSM90 kit for ~1,000 bucks. I suggest just saving your money until you can get supercharged - no other mod is going to give you gains like a blower will. Except nitrous, and that's garbage IMHO. As far as the Plog/ported manifold/downpipe goes, just get headers. Better gains and only a little extra money. SSAC headers are ~$400 FWIW.
