Second post, same low mile car sitting for a few years, this time a intermittent transmission problem.

The first few times I drove the car, it drove perfect, shifted properly. This weekend when I drove it, it seems to start in 3rd gear (maybe 2nd). No first, no overdrive maybe no 2nd. Sluggish as a h*ll from a stops feels & sounds like a high stall converter. In the middle of the weekend test drive it starts working right, starting in 1st, shifting nicely, etc. That lasts about 5 minutes and reverts to starting in 3rd.

Then this morning when I drive it to work, it starts out fine drives right for a couple miles, reverts to starting off in 3rd drives like that for a few miles and then starts working correctly again for the rest of the way into work.

Any ideas? Any connection to the intermittent high idle or the CHARGE light problems?

just a thought, have you checked the fluid in the transmission?

 

The filter in the transmission could be clogged, or it could be worse but I'm no transmission expert.

 

Trip home from work, starts in 2nd gear can manually shift to 3rd. It got real sluggish but I think that was probably from the bank 1 too rich code it threw on the way home. BTW fluid level is correct.
