Default Transmission Issues?

Hey Guys, so I'm not too sure if there is a better thread or this question I tried asking in a sticky but idk i that thread gets traffic as much so here goes:

So I went to take my '07 or an oil change for the first time since I bought it used last Nov. After the mechanic is done he tells me to "keep an eye out on the tranny" with no further explination...so my question is what specifically does he mean? What and when does the tranny mess up if it does at all, could he just be blowing smoke up my butt or is this a serious issue. I guess I just need clarification as to what you guys think he meant.

Also, 1 more question, is it bad to open the power steering cap when the engine is running? Whenever I press the gas pedal my car makes a weird sound and they told me it was something that got opened while the car was on, but i can't remember what it was...for some reason power steering cap sticks in my head...

Thanks in advance guys and gals

The 4t65e-HD transmission is a known weak point in these cars. That's probably what he was telling you.

There was a power steering recall. Was it performed?

I agree, he was telling you to keep up on the transmission maintenance or you could find yourself with a premature problem. Passing on some wisdom is all he was doing....

You should be able to call up the dealership and ask, it should be in the system with your VIN.

As far as the transmission, just keep easy on it and get the fluid and filter flushed every 30k or so.
