Really not a bad swap, heater-ac box clears as long as you use short valve covers. Tall ones take some chopping. Hooker and Heddman both make headers for a big block -gbody swap, not the cheapest but do fit good. Mounts are the same, just use the tops from the 305.
Start looking around for an 8.5 or a 9" rear though, the 7.5 isn't going to last long behind any kind of built bb.
Is it worth it, thats up to you. Not really alot of cons other than the extra weight on the nose. Figure you already know the pros.

alright bro thanks for the response... i got short valve covers for it.. and 400 transmission.. so use the 305 or 350 tops from the motor mounts right?? and would i have to upgrade my radiator and or put an electric fan for clearance. or can i fit the fan with the shout...

i would definitely upgrade the radiator no matter what. i cant imagine the factory rad being more then a 2 row mine i think had a 1 row in it. electric fan is a plus but ive seen big blocks with a clutch fan. i think another con besides the weight is price of parts is way more then it would be for a small block. big block is just for looks and bragging rights a small block car can perform the same if not better. and i would do an ac delete on the car just to make life easier. acdelete.com has the plate for it to relocate the blower motor and clear all that crap out of there. its on my to do list as well.

Yep, the pieces that are bolted to the motor. No a newer s-10 rear is still a 7.5 usually, but also would need all new mounts welded on. They are leaf spring. Clutch fan with a 2 row aluminum radiator was what I used in the last one I did.
I agree with TheMonteMan big blocks are for bragging rights.

hell yeah man. small blocks where its at dollar for dollar. i agree with sideways about the aluminum 2 row i went with a copper brass 3 row and for the money i should have went aluminum. i would personally run an electric fan though i hate the clutch fan even though im running one now. and on the rearend topic. dont waste your time or money on the 7.5 i did that too and its junk. if youve got money to build a big block put some money into a rear dts sells bolt in dana 60s ready to rock.
