A couple notes on the air filter:
1.I got mine ( K&N ) off ebay for about$35 including shipping
2.Don't even try to change the air filter without removing the corner
brace first!
3.I removed the restrictor (air horn) and cut off the front of the air cleaner housing when I changed the filter. The diameter of the airhorn is smaller than the mass air sensor and throttle body- definately restrictive.

I got Synthetic, it makes my car run better and it did save me a lot more on gas. I should get a K&N FILTER SOON. Thanks

I agree with TG

I gutted my airbox and it sounds great because you can here the intake sucking air!!!

Now on the economy side, I just did a trip up north to the U.P of michigan...On E way i got 38 average, thats with a k&n and gutted airbox...Also Synth. is more then worth the extra loot it costs...

What your getting is very respectable though, considering you can put it to the floor in a pinch and be gone!!!

Most cases you get one or the other, Power or gas milage...

Your getting a bit of both My mom has a mercury sable and it doesnt get nearly as good of milage as you do and she drives like an old lady and has a smaller engine

Yeah, the 06/07's don't have the airbox the same, so I was able to change my filter without removing the corner brace.

Gabe: Sorry I missed your reply at first. Yeah this was at the dealer in my 2003 LS... not more than a year and a half ago. It was after a couple of cleanings, so the red color that you usually see in the K&N's wasn't as noticable. They were doing a tranny flush (trans flush AND new fuel filter for 130$ huh?) when they did that to me. The funny thing is I has just gotten the latest cleaning done, and the only thing on the filter (besides the metal shavings from the trash bin) was a couple dust bunnies, I was like WTF made you think this filter was dirty?! He looked at it and was like well it's not white... I'm like and HOW many classes did you take to become a GM certified mechanic? Seriously why bother if you know NOTHING about cars..... I can look at any filter compared to a K&N, (even a 15 year old one) and tell the difference....

But off rant anyways...
