Drop in filter. I have a 2006 Monte carlo LT. 3.9LITER. Does it actually save you more gas by the increase of MPG and add horse power?

Actually, K&N makes no claims as to improving mileage, at least not on my 3.8. More Horsepower usually means More fuel consumption, however, on a 3.8, or 3.9 in your case, you will notice a 10-13 hp gain. But won't notice a decrease in mileage at all. Not an increase either.

And actually, I just noticed that you said you planned a drop-in filter. For the time being, that'll work, but ull notice a little more perofrmance if you buy a Fuel Injection Performance Kit. And It sounds alot better too.

Well, I noticed shortly after that a DROP IN filter might not do 10-13. But on my Blown Monte with the FIPK I noticed a heck of alot of improvement. My friend has a Blown Bonneville and he had a 12 hp gain. I also noted a gain.

I picked up a solid 2 mpg from my cold air intake on my L67. I got 22.5 before, and 24.5 after. am getting 25.3 currently. It has paid for itself almost 2x over! HP gains are hard to determine without a dyno or track time. MPG is figured by my trip computer. I would doubt a mpg increase, at least not much from a drop in filter. I'm hoping a u-bend delete pipe will also help milage.
My wife has a K&N CAI on her '99 silverado, and has seen little mpg improvement.

a drop in filter will only claim to get your 2-3 horsepower, dunno if it gets you more, but i would think that would be it
