so swaping the hd for the regular tranny in a supercharged monte would make for better passes?

It would make it a bit quicker in the 1/4, but there is really no point. IMO, its not worth all the effort of swapping transmissions- not to mention the cost for a couple tenths off in the 1/4. Its one thing if your current trans was toast and you needed a new one anyways, but I certainly wouldn't pull a perfectly good trans to do this- you could pick up the same amount of time with cheaper mods depending what level you're at.

I woudn't say your current trans is necessarily better- they are so close to identical that I wouldn't say one is any better than the other.

However, the current trans you have (the regular 4t65) will be a pinch faster- and you will have an easier time swapping to a performance torque converter later if you ever choose to do so.

ok i have been down this road as well and i am just now seeing this site where they provide the full kit that is a great site and very valuable way of buying the parts IMO dont have to go out and start a scavanger hunt for the parts in a junk yard. I would have a couple of questions in relation to the top swap. It would be, by getting the top swap would it be safe to install a shift kitto the tranny and getting your PCM tuned?

I'm confused- what difference would the engine have whether or not its safe to do a shift kit?

A shift kit is just fine as long as you don't go for the hardcore setup (the really long spacers with the super stiff springs)- there's no reason to be going around banging every gear so hard it feels like the car is gonna fall apart- at least not on a street car; but any normal shift kit would be just fine.

You need to have your pcm tuned (or use an L67 pcm) for a swap anyways, but pcm tuning is always a good thing if the tuner is good. Thats pretty generic across any vehicle/engine combo.
