Default 2007 monte won’t shift, key stuck, won’t start.

Help! Yesterday I went to start my monte (2007 ls) and it wouldn’t turn over. I heard no clicking or cranking. The key was stuck in the ignition and the shifter wouldn’t move. Now I’ve been able to take the column apart (both around key and shifter) to get those moving but the car still won’t start and on the dash it looks like it’s not registering what gear it’s in when I DO get the shifter loose. What do I do?

Before getting too deep into this, can you take a multi-meter and check how many volts the battery has? I dealt with a parasitic drain on my 2004 years ago, and when the battery is low on power, the car would do some really weird things.

not yet. It’s currently stranded in a parking lot that’s pretty far from most things. Before leaving it I disconnected the battery to try and see if a reset would help but we also tried jumping it and got nothing from it yesterday.

A variety of things come to mind:
1. - Low battery
2. - Bad fuse or relay
3. - Not sure if the anti-theft system in the 2006-2007 Monte is the same as the 2000-2005, if it is, you may need to attempt the security re-learn process (as you might be dealing with anti-theft event)
