Default 1999 monte LS TCC problems..

I have a 1999 Monte carlo ls with the 3.1 in it. It has TCC problems, but i dont know where to start in order to fix it. The car has 116k on it. Ok so here is the problem: When i am cruising between 35-45 mph and in 4th gear, the TCC seems to have difficulty choosing when to lock and unlock and when this happens, the tac goes up and down 500 or so rpm's. If it does lock, it locks very hard and you have to give it a lot of gas to get it to unlock again (i.e. going up a hill). It will do the same thing on the freeway between 60-70 mph, the tac will go up and down and the car surges back and forth. I am almost thinking its the TCC solenoid or the Pressure control solenoid. What do you guys think? Is this a common problem with the 4t65-e tranny's?

Thanks,
Alex

i havnt had the tranny fluid changed since ive had it, and ive only owned it for about 5 months now. I have checked the fluid however, and it looks normal and does not smell burnt. I am planning on replacing all the shift 'noids and TCC and pressure 'noids to see if that helps, along with changing the fluid. If that doesnt help, then im stuck.

When you change the fluid get Dexron 6, instead of the stock 3. It runs cooler.

And yes, those are common problems with these transmissions.

So i havnt changed my transmission fluid yet, which i will probably do by the end of this week, but yesterday i drove it around the block a few times just to get things warmed up. now i used a *white* paper towel this time to wipe down the transmission dipstick and not only did red show up, but dark grey. could this be clutch material? am i screwed?
