I do ours between 3 and 4 K miles, but thats because I run valvoline synthetic which gives you a 300,000 mile warranty if you change your oil before 4000miles. If I was using any other synthetic I would change it when the oil monitor said to but with conventional it would be at 3000 miles.

My boss has an 03 grand prix gt with the 3.4L and use to always go by the oil monitor, sometimes it would take 7-8K miles before it would need a change, but then the lifters got noisy, but the noise went away when he did an oil change only to come back around 3500 miles later. Now he changes it at 3000 miles and the lifters stay silent

I do mine at 3000. I realize I could go longer, but I really abuse my cars and want maximum protection.

Alright, I've got an owners manual for my 1968 Ford Torino, original, not a reproduction.

Ford recommended in that year to change the oil every 6 months or 6,000 miles and to use their Rotunda 6000 mile oil and Motorcraft 6000 mile filters.

The 3 month/3,000 mile stuff was mainly for 4 cylidners, which turned much higher RPM's, ran hotter, and broke down their oil faster. For a V8, there wasn't much reason to keep changing the oil that often. He swears the 3month/3,000 mile stuff came along when places like Jiffy Lube got really popular and they wanted ot make more money, so they pushed for 3 month, 3000 mile oil changes.

I use Mobil 1 oil and good oil filter. Then I follow the oil life monitor, and change accordingly. With my mainly highway driving habbits, it tells me to change the oil usually every 7,000-9,000 miles depending on how much highway I really do.

I use mobil clean 5000, and an acdelco filter. I change my oil as I find I want/need to.

It's never anywhere near 5000 miles, but I don't drive the Monte much anymore either. Usually it's every 4 months or so, which can sometimes be maybe 2000 miles haha. But it's an old car, high miles, so I baby it.

I typically change every 3,000 miles but I may try going by the OLM on my Monte just to see when it tells me to change it.

changing your oil is your cheapest thing to do to our cars, ill stick to 3000 miles. one way to look at it is, maybe run the oil till you have to add some, cause your either burning oil, leaking oil, or the oil is starting to break down. just something to think about.
