not the right way to do that at all! Sorry to say that. But the correct way would to remove and patch panel and weld then put a very thin layer of your choice "bondo" over it then prep and paint.

Might be easier and cheaper to find the trunk lid for an 05. First year Chevy deleted the keyhole.

how he filled it is definitly the right way..
but after lookin at the pic, i really hope it isnt what it looks like and you didn't prime right up to your tape edge. :P

I simply took the same red vinyl for the eye lids & covered they assembly. some day I may fill it.

Ik ik but i didnt have the ability to weld metal at the time and bondo filled it very nicely and smooth. Its not noticable till it gets a bit of dust in it, but it still looks better than a keyhole.

For all the work it takes to get this key hole erased I might be happier just keeping it, with all the money I'd save. Anyway, my Camaro has a key hole and I'm not so worried about it anymore.
