Mel I never had an issue with scratches useng the bra on the Deuce even
cross country on route 66 from AZ to Chicago

BUT there are things you do not want to do.
NEVER put a bra on a dusty or dirty car.
ALWAYS check the inside of the bra for dirt or debris
Make sure it is taught so it wont flap in the wind
Use a high quality bra with a soft cloth backing

Thanks for this post Tadd, very helpful tips. I'll be washing and detailing mine myself. I guess it wouldn't hurt to bring my cover.

I never had any issues whatsoever using the bra on my 03 Monte. Sure most people buy one and throw it on the car and never take it off; that's when it creates problems. However, like Tadd said, if you know how to properly use it and take care of it on a regular basis, it won't cause any problems. I never put it on the car when the car was not clean and it came off regularly so it didn't accumulate road debris, etc. that could scratch the paint. In some ways I really don't see how it's any different than putting a fitted car cover on. I always treated the bra like a car cover: cover the car only when the car is clean and make sure the inside of the cover itself is clean.

I thought about going with that 3M clear bra on the 06 after having the front repainted, but it was freakin' $800 to have it installed and I wasn't sure how the edges would do with wax on the black paint, i.e. holding dry wax along the edges.

I too had thought of a clear bra BUT they get nicks and scrapes too, THEN what do you do? Your stuck with an $800 clear bra that is hard to get off and looks like ...well crap

I had one on the GP and it did cause a few scratches so I never put it on again. I was able to get them out. Maybe it was just a freaked accident.

Depends also on the roads/driving conditions of your area.

Sounds like they're extremely picky when it comes to judging now, more so than I remember when I attended back between 97-04 (10-17 yrs old). I welcome their attention to detail, I'm just comparing to my previous experiences at the Conventions. Although I was younger then so I may not have been as aware of certain things back then. I just don't remember there ever being a) a fire extinguisher requirement and b) judges checking under the floor mats.
